Project Summary
Morgan was engaged to construct a 3.7km long rock-lined filtration ditch intended to capture any dirty water and provide containment, mitigating environmental risk associated with surface runoff. In addition to the filtration ditches, the filtration network included two large ponds which assist with storage requirements and allow for dissipation.
Project Scope
Phase 1:
1.8 km of road was built for light vehicles, using Zone 5 rockfill material
A 1.8 km long ditch was excavated and lined with Zone 5A rockfill material for protection
A 29,000 m3 holding pond was dug out
A 1800mm diameter concrete reinforced manhole was installed
A 600mm HDPE intake pipe was installed
Water was properly managed during excavation activities
Phase 1 work activities were completed ahead of schedule
Phase 2:
Built a 1.9 km road for light vehicles using Zone 5 rockfill material
Dug and armored 1.9 km of ditches using Zone 5A rockfill material
Excavated a 36,000 m3 holding pond
Installed a 1800mm diameter concrete reinforced manhole
Installed a 600mm HDPE intake pipe
Managed water during excavation activities
