Project Summary
Site remediation of a former industrial area of downtown Fort MacMurray, AB as well as construction of a new recreational walking path connecting the downtown core to the MacDonald Island recreational area. Morgan utilized our civil construction and environmental remediation skillsets to complete all scopes of work in house. A “turnkey” service to the city maximizing efficiency and minimizing cost.
Project Scope
Excavate 5400 m3 of soil that have been contaminated by PAH, transport and dispose of safely
Repair a trail that's almost 3 kilometers long
Remove bushes and trees, path realignment, install a base layer of gravel, and cover with pavement
Install new dirt and grass along the trail
Cover an area of 10,500 m2 with geotextile
Create a path made of asphalt, 3 meters wide, and 2.6 kilometers long
Build a retaining wall 35 meters long to keep the path from sliding downhill
Install seven culverts 5 meters long to help water flow under the path
Use 54 screw piles to install solar lights along the path
