Morgan Construction and Environmental Ltd. is an earthworks and environmental group who continues to grow in projects, scope, and in our people. With four main offices in Edmonton, Acheson, Calgary and Fort McMurray; projects throughout Western Canada; over 500 workers; and hundreds of pieces of heavy equipment; Morgan continuously seeks to add top talent to their team.

This new addition to our payroll team will be based in our Edmonton Office and under the direction of the Payroll Supervisor. This position will be responsible for the accuracy of hourly and contractor payrolls. Payroll will be processed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with established practices and legislation guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain hourly employee records, and update spreadsheets as necessary, taking great pride in maintaining current, accurate information;
  • Liaise with human resources regarding staff and contract changes;
  • Process hourly payroll, equipment hours, expenses, garnishments, and deductions accurately and efficiently;
  • Answer employee inquiries providing a high level of customer service;
  • Maintain the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality;
  • Perform meticulous and accurate data entry and calculations;
  • Complete ROEs as required;
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Self-directed, task and goal oriented;
  • High attention to detail and accuracy;
  • The ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines;
  • Demonstrated willingness to adapt to a constantly changing environment.

REQUIRMENTS

  • 3+ years’ experience in payroll, preference given to individuals with high volume construction and/or oil and gas industry experience;
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or working towards the designation considered an asset;
  • Intermediate level of Mircrosoft Office products with specific strengths in Excel and Outlook.
