SUMMARY: Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this newly created role will provide direct oversight of staff working on the jobsite(s) and will ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in full accordance with plans, specifications, scheduling, client’s direction, and good maintenance practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Safety • Lead by example by placing safety as the highest value. • Ensure compliance of Morgan’s and client’s regulatory safe work practices and work procedures. • Responsible for leading and motivating direct reports to achieve and exceed project safety standards; site productivity, and achieve their personal/professional growth objectives. • Participate in safety audits, equipment inspections, incident investigations, personnel conflicts, etc. to provide technical input and sound judgment. • Perform on-going daily site inspections of the work to confirm progress, identify issues, assist in resolving problems, provide technical guidance, evaluate performance of individual crew members, confirm safety practices are being followed, and ensure quality workmanship in accordance with the plans and specifications. • Support all HSE initiatives and requirements for project and actively promotes adherence and personal responsibility to employees on site; attends daily toolbox meetings. Leadership • Ensure the corporate values / standards of business conduct / human resource philosophy is understood, embraced and implemented throughout the project; and personally, demonstrates them in daily interactions and relationships. • Establish and model a culture of making project decisions based on achieving and enhancing project profitability, meeting schedules, maintaining customer satisfaction, increasing field productivity and safety and in consideration of constraints and resources. • Attract, train, retain, motivate, and mentor all staff members in a timely and effective manner. • Respond to complaints promptly and carry out rework as required to satisfy client requests and/or project quality standards. • Coordinate and supervises the repair and schedule(s) for on-going maintenance and preventive maintenance on assigned jobsites with the operations designate. • Provides daily direction to field mechanics based on job priorities and monitors progress. • Provide direction and clarifications to sub-trades on a daily basis and as requested, ensure they are following established project safety practices and standards. • Provide field presence to ensure that the status of repairs are understood and repairs adhere to corporate quality standards. • In coordination with Maintenance Superintendent, evaluate current and projected work flows and initiates re-allocation or re-prioritizing of maintenance personnel to meet priorities within assigned area. • Follow a disciplined approach for all repair and maintenance reporting and documentation from all staff, with accurate and timely recording and reporting of all service and maintenance costs, work hours, equipment hour meters, purchase orders, and administrative details. • Assist the Maintenance Superintendent with evaluating various fleet items, and the advisability of continued repairs, overhauls, etc. • Demonstrate and practice the avoidance of silo thinking and behaviours between departments, branches and projects – reinforces the priority of overall organizational success. Responsible to take best practices from a site and implement throughout the work. • Advise Maintenance Superintendent about daily crew productivity, issues and progress; forecasts needs for additional manpower or equipment to meet construction plan or when current manpower and equipment will no longer be required. • Provides personal leadership to create positive and productive relationships with all internal and external parties to maximize performance and results.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Proven experience working within a strong safety culture and leading others in the same. • Possesses strong written and verbal communications skills. • Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines. • Highly organized and able to work on multiple, competing priorities at any one time.

REQUIREMENTS: • At least 2 years of progressive experiencing leading a maintenance team, ideally in various locations. • A minimum of five years’ experience maintaining heavy equipment.
• Must be a licensed mechanic. • Must be willing to spend majority of time in the field.

Valid Driver's License is Required
