FINISH EXCAVATOR OPERATOR

LOCATION: Various Locations throughout Alberta - Please note we do not fly people to site for these positions - You will be required to get to Nisku, AB and we will drive you to site.

SUMMARY :

Under general supervision, the operator will be responsible for all types of work with clients, and worksite. The operator will ensure the equipment is being operated according to the safety standards, clients and by applicable laws.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Actively supports safety culture by operating equipment and tools in a safe manner, follows Morgan’s Safe Work Procedures, follows Morgan’s PPE policies and practices and report all near misses and incidents to management in a timely fashion
  • Identify hazards on sites and complete JSA’s and hazard analysis
  • Stripping, ripping, levelling, loading trucks
  • Track parallel to exaction, slope trimming, culvert installation, dig a proper V ditch
  • Cleans heavy equipment on a routine basis
  • Knowledge on Rock breaker use, hoe pack use, wrist bucket use, and thumb use

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Have a strong understanding of safe sloping, trimming, ditching and track cleaning, culvert installation, breaker experience
  • Lease building, reclamation, road building, pad building and culvert installation experience
  • Knowledge of working in muskeg and previous quarry experience is an asset
  • Previously worked with riprap
  • Ability to lift and carry from a waist, low level and above the shoulder positions, up to 25lbs

REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic reading and writing skills with the ability to speak/understand English fluently
  • Minimum of 5 years full time work experience as an excavator operator supporting construction or civil earthworks activities and/or oilfield maintenance services
  • Valid Safety Tickets including, but not limited to CSTS, Standard First Aid- Level 1, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance II, WHIMIS 2015, OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO
  • Unrestricted Class 5 license with a clean 3 year commercial drivers abstract
