Finish Dozer Operator

LOCATION: Various Locations throughout Alberta - Please note we do not fly people to site for these positions - You will be required to get to Nisku, AB and we will drive you to site.


Under general supervision, the operator will be responsible for all types of work with clients and worksite. The operator will ensure the equipment is being operated according to the safety standards, clients and by applicable laws. The equipment operators are expected to: work outside in all weather conditions, available to work 12 hours per day, demonstrate safe operation of assigned equipment, able to read, comprehend and comply with: site specific safety rules, maintenance instructions, training manuals, warning tags, traffic signs and procedure manuals.


  • Must be able to cut and fill to grade and read and follow grade stakes
  • Actively supports safety culture by operating equipment and tools in a safe manner, follows Morgan’s Safe Work Procedures, follows Morgan’s PPE policies and practices and report all near misses and incidents to management in a timely fashion
  • Understand the issues involving ground disturbance, lives sites and ability to work in and follow safe work practices and procedures and contribute to a safe work environment
  • Able to identify hazards on sites and complete JSA’s and hazard analysis
  • Responsible for equipment checks and informing mechanics of mechanical problems
  • Has knowledge of installing rig mat/creek crossings (Snow fills with clean snow)
  • Cleans heavy equipment on a routine basis including removing personal belongings and trash from cab daily and maintaining good housekeeping
  • Interacts with internal and external customers in a professional, courteous and respectful manner that contributes toward a positive and productive worksite. Also, has the ability to work well with others, and independently. In addition, can follow direction from foreman and field management


  • Familiar with lease building, reclamation, road building, pad building and culvert installation
  • Ability to decelerate prior to shifting forward or backwards and gear down
  • Has a strong understanding of stripping, and overburden
  • Has knowledge of when material has achieved compaction
  • Understand and operate winch level, track clean, and read survey stakes
  • Understands construction, haul roads and Morgan equipment procedures
  • Demonstrates good judgment and think problems through where applicable, and suggests improvements on job quality
  • Ability to follow instructions, technical specifications and grade plans
  • Have an understanding of survey grades and construction methods


  • Must have basic reading and writing skills with the ability to speak/understand English fluently
  • 5 years full time work experience as a heavy equipment operator supporting construction or heavy civil earthworks activities. This would include building roads, oil field leases and pads
  • Pushing, Pulling, sitting, bending forward, standing, walking, climbing, crouching/squatting, crawling and above should level reaching will be required when working
  • Fuel and lubing and heavy equipment basic maintenance
  • Must have valid CSTS, OSSA REGIONAL ORIENTATION or OSSA BSO, Standard First Aid- Level 1, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance II,WHIMIS 2015
  • Physically fit – Must be able to successfully complete a fitness to work test
  • Must have valid driver’s license with a clean 3 year commercial drivers abstract
